Mafia informant 'killed by family'

A MAFIA informant who disappeared nearly a year ago was tortured and her body dissolved in acid by her former partner and family members angry she had co-operated with authorities, Italian police said.

Lea Garofalo, 35, was forced on to a lorry carrying 50 litres of acid and killed near Milan on the night of 24-25 November, police said.
