M8 crash: Motorway closed and heavy traffic following collision

Part of the M8 that was closed to traffic following a collision has now reopened.

The crash, involving two cars, happened near to J30 at about 5pm on Wednesday.

Both lanes heading westbound on the motorway at J30 were closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Traffic Scotland alerted commuters to the crash and heavy traffic on Twitter saying queues went as far back as J28.

The road has now reopened, and there were no reports of injuries in the crash.

A police spokesman said: “Around 5pm on Wednesday, 7 July, officers were called to attend a two vehicle crash on the M8, at junction 30, near to the Erskine Bridge.

"There have been no reported injuries and the road has fully reopened.

"Officers remain the area as enquiries continue."
