M74 motorway closed as driver badly hurt

THE M74 motorway link between Scotland and England was closed yesterday for over seven hours following a road accident.

A 26-year-old man was seriously injured in the crash on the northbound carriageway near Lesmahagow, after his car appeared to lose control and struck the central barrier.
