Lucky staff haul in £700,000 win

WORKERS at a haulage firm were celebrating yesterday after their lottery syndicate scooped more than £700,000.

The 25 staff from David Murray Transport in Carnoustie, Angus, have each won about 29,500.

The winners range from apprentice mechanic Shannon Jamieson, 16, to managing director David Murray, 65, whose wife is also in the syndicate. They scooped 739,121 in Wednesday's Lotto draw and found out they had won on Thursday morning.

Stephen Fletcher, 40, traffic co-ordinator and syndicate leader, said: "The whole office erupted when we found out, and it's fair to say that not much work was done. But when the boss is in on the fun, it doesn't matter."

He added: "Everybody is happy because haulage is a hard industry being hit by lots of rules and regulations."
