Lucky escape after kebab shop gutted

A BLAZE has ripped through a kebab shop in Dalry following a fire in a deep fat fryer.

Fire crews were called to the Derya takeaway in Dalry Road just after 5pm yesterday evening.

Despite the scale of the fire, no-one was hurt or had to be evacuated, though neighbouring shops were affected by the flames and smoke.

A spokeswoman for Lothian and Borders Fire Service said this morning: "It was quite a bad fire, but luckily nobody was injured, but there was some damage to the shops either side of the kebab house."
