Lots to savour in Colourist sale

AUCTIONEERS are getting ready for a sale featuring the finest group of Colourist paintings to go under the hammer in a generation.

Bonhams’ sale of Colourists and other Scottish painters, to be held in Edinburgh tomorrow, will feature 39 paintings by Samuel Peploe, John Fergusson, George Hunter and Francis Cadell.

The sale will include a private American collection, the highlight of which is Peploe’s £500,000 masterpiece, Flowers and Fruit, which he completed in 1920.
