Lothians health looks good as 265,000 take free eye test

MORE than a third of people in the Lothians have accepted free eye tests in the past year, figures have shown.

It means around 265,000 people have had their sight assessed in that time, a figure that has been welcomed by the Scottish Government, which has made eye care one of its priorities.

Public Health Minister Shona Robison said: "It is encouraging to see that the number of people accessing free NHS eye examinations continues to increase.

"NHS eye examinations are now free for all and are tailored to the needs and symptoms of the patients, allowing them to receive, free of charge, an appropriate health assessment.

"It is vitally important that people have their eyes examined regularly."
