A graveyard has been removed from the Pokemon GO app after £8000 of damage was caused.

Headstones were knocked over at Whitburn’s Manse Road Cemetery - which is a ‘Pokestop’ in the new game.

West Lothian Council said it didn’t know if Pokemon players were responsible, but said dozens of gamers had been flocking there.

Police are investigating the damage.

A West Lothian Council spokesman said: “We are aware that the cemetery is a Pokestop but cannot confirm if children playing the game are linked to the toppling of stones.

“The graveyard will now be removed from the map altogether while police are following positive lines of inquiry after £8000 worth of damage was caused. “
