Lothian chiefs offer planning application payment online

RESIDENTS submitting planning application in East Lothian can now pay for them online using a new service launched by council chiefs.

The 24-hour internet payment service allows planning application to be paid securely, as well as council tax, rent, business rates and fixed penalties.

The council said new services would be added to the site as its development was continued.

A council spokesman stressed the service was secure: "All of your personal and card details are protected using 128 bit encryption, when transmitted over the internet.

"Your card details are stored on a server behind a secure firewall. Only authorised personnel may access this information."
