Lorry hits rail bridge at Cameron Toll

Travellers are facing slow traffic after a lorry collided with a railway bridge at Cameron Toll.

Police were forced to close Lady Road in Edinburgh following the incident, which occurred just after 6.15pm.

Fire crews from Liberton also attended the accident, which saw a lorry overturned onto its side at the roundabout where the street meets Peffermill Road.

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service added that personell had to assist the driver out of his vehicle, but that he was uninjured.

She said: “He was checked over by the ambulance crew that was also on site, but was not taken to hospital.”

Police officers were still on site at 7.30pm assisting to clear the accident.

A diversion is currently in place along the A6095.
