Lorry driver jailed for sex with children

A LORRY driver who filmed himself having sex with young children during a 30-year reign of abuse has been given a ten-year extended sentence at the High Court in Perth.

Robert Manson bowed his head in shame as a member of one victim's family screamed: "I hope you rot in there."

Manson, 61, committed serious sex acts with children as young as eight and carried out his abuse on both male and female victims between 1979 and January this year.

Police who raided his home on an unrelated matter found sickening videos the lorry driver had made.

Manson, from Broomhouse, Edinburgh, admitted a total of six charges of serious and sustained sexual assaults upon three young girls – aged from eight – and one ten-year-old boy, at addresses in Edinburgh between 4 November, 1979, and 4 January, 2010.

Judge Lady Stacey said: "This was disgraceful behaviour which caused a great deal of harm."

Following the verdict, a police spokesman said: "His victims were subjected to horrific abuse and no jail term will ever compensate for their terrible ordeal."
