Lorry driver found with laptop and DVD player mounted on dashboard

A lorry driver who was pulled over by police was found to have a laptop and DVD player mounted to his dashboard.

The driver, which was travelling from Aberdeen to Dover, was stopped by traffic officers near Stirling on Tuesday.

A spot check on the truck, which had travelled from Hungary, revealed a that a table had been installed on to hold the electronic devices.

The man was ordered to remove the items from his cab before he was allowed to continue his journey.

Head of the Road Policing Unit, Chief Inspector Donald McMillan, said: "It is incredible to think that any professional driver would put things in place which would obscure his vision. Driving is their livelihood and they should know better than to put themselves – and other road users – at risk.

"It is not acceptable that a professional driver would behave in such a manner."

The same lorry was also found to have a seriously underinflated tyre on the trailer.
