Lorry crash shuts road

THE south road out of Newbridge was closed for almost five hours after a lorry tipped over.

Police said the heavy goods vehicle's 30-year-old driver suffered minor injuries in the accident, which happened on Cliftonhall Road at about 3.20pm yesterday, and was taken to St John's Hospital as a precaution.

The lorry left petrol and debris lying across the road, and the resultant clean-up operation meant that it could only be reopened at 8pm.
