Local Round-up: Woman in plea to find lost camera

THE owner of a camera lost in a taxi on Saturday night is begging whomever finds it to hand it in to police.

Karen Gibson, 29, said the digital Kodak camera was filled with hundreds of sentimental images from a friend's wedding and a recent family holiday to Tenerife, and is desperate to get it back.

Ms Gibson left the item in a taxi in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Spa enjoys record year

The Mary Reid Spa Academy celebrated a successful graduation ceremony at the George Hotel on Monday night, with a record number of graduates leaving.

The North Castle Street school achieved 90 per cent employment in 2011, reflecting the growth of the spa sector.

Snappers put work on show

AN exhibition of work by photographers Sam Luntley, Nick Paton, Martin Scott Powell and Alastair Rathie will open at Art's Complex on Saturday.

The four studied at Edinburgh Napier University. Their exhibition, called Qualia, runs until July 24 in gallery three of the complex, in London Road.

Bus firms to share 18 service

Changes are set to be made to Lothian Buses' timetables later this month. The company said the number 18 service would now only run Monday-Friday at peak times, with rival firm First running the route during the day and at weekends.

McDonald's trains sixty apprentices

SIXTY staff from McDonalds in Edinburgh have graduated from the company's apprenticeship scheme.

The McDonald's Apprenticeship scheme has been completed by nearly 4000 staff since it was launched in 2009.

Andrew Watson, McDonald's franchisee in Princes Street, said: "I'm proud to be able to offer local people this type of opportunity in the form of our apprenticeship programme."

Accountants add up the cash after challenge

TWO big-hearted members of accountancy firm Springfords, based in Edinburgh and Livingston, helped raise around 2500 by taking part in the gruelling Caledonian Challenge.

The event involves teams up to six people walking 54 miles across some of Scotland's most remote landscape.

The team were Sue Bird, from Corstorphine, Jennifer Smith and her husband Graham, from Dunfermline, and Fiona Jackson, from Morningside.
