Local Round-up: Music night is on song for the Sick Kids

LEITH Dockers Club will play host to a charity music night in aid of the Sick Kids hospital.

Diane Cameron, who is helping to organise the event, said: "We realised we have all used the Sick Kids at some point, so this event is just to give something back."

The night, on June 24, will be a mix of 1960s soul and Motown music, with a raffle to raise funds for the Sick Kids.

Ms Cameron added: "We are looking for people to donate anything."

Road bridge to open doors

The public has a rare chance to see behind the scenes at the Forth Road Bridge this summer as the bridge authority opens its doors.

Guided tours will be available from 13-18 June, with a minibus tour of the structure at deck level and an opportunity to visit one of the main cable anchorage chambers.

Lothian Buses' lost property office has moved to the Hanover Street Travelshop.

It is open from 9.30am to 1.30pm and 2pm to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. You can also call 0131-475 0652 for lost property enquiries.

Items will be held for a month.

Grow on and savour taste of Good Life

A COURSE for would-be gardeners who want a taste of The Good Life is being launched in Dalry this month.

The six-week Grow Your Own programme, run by the Edinburgh Community Backgreens Association (ECBA), shows how to harvest fruit and vegetables in the back garden.

It will be held at Cherrytree Community Backgreen, in Orwell Terrace, from April 9 to May 21.

Dancers raise cancer funds

STUDENTS from Edinburgh Dance School raised 326 for Marie Curie Cancer Care by performing at Cameron Toll Shopping Centre.

As part of a nationwide event organised by Marie Curie, the young dancers did The Daffodil Dance to raise money to provide more free care to people with terminal cancer.
