Local round-up: Fundraiser to help clinic garden bloom

A HEALTH clinic which helps people with mental health issues and alcohol and drug problems is holding a fundraising day to raise cash for new herbs and plants for an aromatherapy garden and a massage bed.

The charity day in aid of the Wester Hailes Health Agency will offer manicures, crystal therapy, reflexology, massage and more, and will take place on March 18 from 2pm to 6pm at Deer Park Golf and Country Club in Livingston. Entry is 1.

Stride along to walking group

A WALKING group in Leith is holding its monthly walk tomorrow.

Barnardo's gets political

BARNARDO's Bookshop on Clerk Street is inviting customers to view its entire selection of politically-themed books for one night only.

The Politics Book Evening will take place on Tuesday, from 6.30pm to 8pm. The event is free and will feature everything from autobiographies and manifestos, to joke books.

Acrobats swing in for Capital show

CHINESE acrobatics will be on display at a show to be performed at the Out of the Blue Drill Hall in Dalmeny Street today and tomorrow.

Ornithology will be presented by Iron Oxide Ltd, with artists Strangebird Zirkus, and is described as "a magic realist story told in a physical language of Chinese pole and floor acrobatics". It begins at 7.30pm, with tickets 3 from [email protected]

Planning institute president opens new office

PRESIDENT of the Royal Town Planning Institute Richard Summers was guest of honour at the formal opening of the group's new offices in Atholl Crescent.

Cutting the official ribbon, he said: "The RTPI is delighted to be in Edinburgh. We recognise that Scottish solutions are required to tackle Scottish issues.
