Lip-reading classes to help adults

A LIP-READING course for adults is to be run at Donaldson's school in Linlithgow, West Lothian.

The course is designed for those who have hearing loss and feel they would benefit from extra support in communicating effectively.

It costs 50 and will be taught over ten weeks by a member of the Association of Teachers of Lip-Reading to Adults.

Participants will learn to recognise some of the speech they cannot hear, in informal, friendly classes.

They will also learn how to read people and how to position themselves in a room for maximum benefit.

Organisers say they hope participants in the group will also benefit from one another's shared experience in improving their communication skills while suffering from hearing loss.

The course runs every Monday, beginning on January 17, with classes from 4pm to 6pm.
