Library cost fears are eased

THE cost of staffing a new library in the Capital will not impact upon other libraries, city leaders have insisted.

Six full-time equivalent posts will be created at Drumbrae Library, which is being built as part of a new 5.7 million "community hub".

Gordon Munro, culture and leisure spokesman for the council's Labour group, had expressed concerns about the impact of staffing requirements.

But culture and leisure leader Deidre Brock said: "This will have no impact on other city libraries. The costs will be met from within the existing library service resources."
