Lib Dems in pledge to cut rail fares

THE Liberal Democrats pledged to cut rail fares in real terms should they win the election.

Train companies can raise their regulated fares, which include season tickets, by the RPI rate of inflation plus 1 per cent each January.

The Lib Dems said they would change the formula to RPI -1 per cent.
