Lib Dem event axed amid protest fears

Fears over student protests have forced the Liberal Democrats to abandon a regional party conference in London today.

Demonstrators had pledged to target it to voice anger at the party's failure to meet a pledge to oppose fee rises.

It had been scheduled to take place at a north London school but the headmaster raised concerns about security.
