Leith Hall is set to reopen

A MANSION that was closed last year as part of a series of cost cutting measures by the National Trust for Scotland is set to reopen to the public part-time later this summer.

Leith Hall, near Kennethmont in Aberdeenshire, was one of a number of visitor attractions in Scotland that were closed by the cash-strapped trust.

The trust also announced plans to convert the 17th century building for permanent residential use to meet the cost of managing the estate and gardens which have continued to remain open to the public.

But yesterday, a spokeswoman for the trust announced that plans were being developed to open the house to the public on Sundays at the height of the summer season.
