Leith Festival starts with a samba

A GROUP of dancing Samba girls helped kick off the Leith Festival on the weekend.

The event, which will see more than 100 activities and performances, is set to run across Leith until 20 June.

Opening on Friday night, locals were treated to several jamming sessions, an art exhibition and a short film festival.

Festival entertainment cover theatre and dance, music, comedy and literature. Today's events include a writing workshop and a gig by folk singer Bruce Davies, both at South Leith Parish Church Halls, and an art exhibition at Ocean Terminal.
