Leisure centre gas leak scare

A LEISURE centre was evacuated yesterday after reports of chlorine gas leak, police said.

One member of staff at the David Lloyd centre in Aberdeen was taken to hospital amid concern that he had inhaled fumes.

The alarm was raised over the incident at the facility in the city's Garthdee district just after 3pm and hazardous chemical advisors were called to the scene.

"One member of staff was reported as having inhaled some fumes," a police spokesman.

The sports centre remained closed while investigations were carried out.
