Sheriff Thomas Ross ordered on Wednesday that a hearing into whether Griffiths racially abused ex-Hearts ace Rudi Skacel, 35, should take place next month at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

Prosecutors claim Griffiths sang the illegal ditty at a bar in Edinburgh before a Hearts v Hibs derby clash in March 2014.

Sheriff Ross fixed a date after being addressed by Griffiths’ legal team on Wednesday morning. They want a period of one month to investigate the racism claims.

Griffiths, of Edinburgh, has not entered a plea to the allegation.

The hearing will take place on April 15 2015.
