Legal advice for landlords

Scottish landlords are being invited to learn about new laws requiring them to protect their tenants’ deposits at a meeting being held by the National Landlords Association (NLA) in Edinburgh.

Any landlord or letting agent holding a tenant’s deposit will have to pay it to a deposit protection scheme soon after the schemes are launched in 2012. It will apply to existing tenancies and new tenancies.

The meeting, to be held on December 13, at the Apex International Hotel, will be attended by NLA’s chief executive officer, Richard Lambert.
