Leaders skip St Andrews

CITY leaders have opted not to attend a conference arranged by local authority representative Cosla because they did not judge it as good value for money.

Cosla had invited the city council to send a representative to its annual conference at St Andrews on March 9-11, at a cost of 180 a day or 495 for a full residential package.

But council leader Jenny Dawe rejected the proposal "on the grounds that the detailed programme suggests that expenditure would not give good value for money".
