Leaders hold budget talks

CITY leaders have held a briefing on budgets with other politicians representing Edinburgh.

Council leader Jenny Dawe and finance director Donald McGougan held the briefing with a cross-party selection of MPs and MSPs in the City Chambers yesterday.

They updated them on the city council's plans to face up to a funding gap of more than 90 million over the next three years, and on proposals to cut at least 1,200 jobs.

Cllr Dawe said: "I always welcome the opportunity to discuss matters of great importance."
