Latvian man’s body pulled from Fraserburgh harbour

POLICE searching for a Latvian national, missing from the Fraserburgh area since early December, have recovered a body from the Aberdeenshire town’s harbour.

Dmitrij Kirilovs, 38, has last seen in the town’s Saltoun Square at around5am on Sunday, 1 December.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said today that a body had been recovered from the harbour on Wednesday morning.

She said: “We can confirm that a body has been found in the search for a man reported missing from the Fraserburgh area in early December. A body was recovered from the water at Fraserburgh harbour and the family of Dmitrijs Kirilovs have been informed of the development. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”

Meanwhile Police Scotland said today that the body, recovered from the River Lossie near Cooper Park in Elgin on Thursday, was that of David Milne, 59, from the Elgin area.

A spokeswoman said: “A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. There are no suspicious circumstances.”

Police Scotland also confirmed today that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a female dog walker, whose body was found on Tuesday at an Aberdeen nature reserve.

The body of Margaret McNolty, 52, was discovered at the Maidencraig Nature Reserve in the Hazlehead area of the city, near the Aberdeen Crematorium. Her black collie dog was still at her side.

Police Scotland had been treating her death as “unexplained.” But a force spokeswoman said today: Police Scotland can confirm that following enquiries into the death of a 52 year-old woman there are no suspicious circumstances.A post mortem has been carried out and enquiries are ongoing but there is nothing to suggest any suspicious circumstances.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
