Late-night dog walk turns into rescue drama

A WALKER had to be rescued after getting stranded on rocks while taking his dog for a late-night stroll.

The man, who has not been named, was with his pet in Arbroath, Angus, when they were cut off by the tide.

Lifeboats were launched after a friend called the coastguard. The man was treated by ambulance crews on the shore at Arbroath.

A spokesman from Forth coastguard station said: "We were called out at 12:30pm to assist a man who had been cut off while on the rocks.

"The inshore and all-weather lifeboats were launched from Arbroath and a coastguard team from Carnoustie rescued the man, who was then taken to a waiting ambulance."

The dog was taken to a vet in Forfar to be checked over.
