Landlord fined for installing gas boiler

A LANDLORD who illegally installed a boiler at a house he owned has been fined £800.

Mohammed Aslam, of Govanhill, was not qualified to work with gas when he did the work in Glasgow. He pleaded guilty at the city's Sheriff Court to four charges of breaching gas safety regulations between 2007 and 2008.

Health and Safety Executive inspectors had also found a gas fire in the house, in Newton Mearns, was not properly sealed to the wall and there was a risk of carbon monoxide fumes. Mr Aslam also carried out work on a boiler at a flat in Eastwood, said HSE inspectors.

It was found that an uncapped gas supply pipe in the living room presented an "immediate danger" to residents.
