Lanark man found with serious head injuries

POLICE have launched an attempted murder investigation after a man was found with serious head injuries behind a college.

The 25-year-old was discovered by a member of staff yesterday around 9am, at the rear of Scottish Agricultural College in High Street, Lanark, suffering from life-threatening injuries.

The victim, who was last night in a critical condition the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow, was last seen by his girlfriend two blocks away shortly before midnight.

Detective Constable Ronnie Payne of Lanark CID said: "At this time we really have no idea how this young man has come about his injuries and we don't know exactly how long he had been lying at the rear of the building.

"We do know that the victim was last seen by his girlfriend at around 11.30pm last night just near to Tesco's Supermarket in Gallowhill Road."
