Korean security alert downgrade

South Korean and US forces have downgraded their defensive alert based on intelligence that the North has relaxed the standby status of military units on the west coast.

The North Korean units, including artillery bases linked to the shelling of a South Korean island on 23 November now appear to be operating as normal.
