Knifeman flees store empty-handed

A ROBBER who threatened three women with a knife fled empty-handed from a Glasgow grocery store.

Strathclyde Police are appealing for witnesses after the man tried to rob Boig's in Springboig Road at around 5pm yesterday.

The man appeared to be armed with a knife when he entered the store and threatened the three shop assistants.

He demanded money before making off on a mountain bike towards Moredun Street.

Detective Sergeant Roland Craig said: "This was a frightening experience for the staff within the store who, although are thankfully uninjured, are extremely shaken at what happened to them."
