Knife thug steals cash in shop raid

A KNIFE-WIELDING robber escaped with cash after a raid on a shop in Bathgate.

The man walked into the store on Kirk Road and demanded money at 1.30pm on Monday.

Police say the shop assistant refused, but the man opened the till and grabbed a three-figure sum of money before walking off in the direction of the Kaim Park roundabout.

He is described as being white, between 5ft 5in and 5ft 8in, of slim build with a gaunt face and stained teeth.

He was missing an upper tooth and had a scar on the left side of his face.

A police spokesperson said: "Fortunately the shop assistant was not injured in this incident, although she has been left understandably shaken as a result."
