Kitten counts its lives after ledge rescue

A KITTEN was counting its remaining lives this morning after being rescued from a window ledge by firefighters.

The team from Tollcross were about to go off duty when they spotted the pet trapped on a ledge at tenement flats on Forrest Road at around 6am yesterday.

It appears the kitten had fallen from a window above but had managed to grab on to the ledge.

Firefighters used a ladder to reach her and she was returned to her owners safe and well.

A spokeswoman for Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service said: "Police contacted us this morning to see if we could help. Firefighters used a short extension ladder to reach her.

"The delicate operation to retrieve her was completed in less than ten minutes. She's certainly used up one of her nine lives but should make a speedy recovery."
