Kirriemuir sex attack sparks police investigation

POLICE Scotland have launched a major investigation after a 43-year-old woman was the victim of a sexual assault in Angus on Sunday night.

The street in Kirriemuir where the woman was assaulted was cordoned off today as forensic teams carried out a detailed examination of the scene.

A spokesman for the Tayside Division of Police Scotland said that the 43-year-old woman was attacked sometime between 6.30pm and 7.30pm on Sunday night as she was walking across a grassy area at the rear of Hillbank Terrace in Kirriemuir.

He said: “She was approached by a man who sexually assaulted her. He is described as being of slim build.”

The spokesman continued: “The area has been cordoned off the allow officers to examine the scene and specialist officers are speaking to the victim in order to ascertain further information.

“Anyone who has any information that may assist officers with their enquiries should get in touch with Police Scotland Tayside Division on 101 or speak to any police officer.”
