Killer makes verdict appeal

A MAN convicted of killing his lover, dismembering her body and dumping the remains in the Capital is challenging his conviction for murder.

Alan Cameron, 56, was handed a life sentence last June for killing Heather Stacey, 44.

Yesterday, solicitor advocate John Scott argue that there was not enough evidence to justify Cameron's conviction.

Pathologists were unable to determine what had killed Ms Stacey. Mr Scott told the Court of Criminal Appeal that in other similar cases there had been some signs of an assault on the victim, but that key piece of evidence was missing here.

Appeal judges will give their ruling on Cameron's appeal at a later date.
