Killer Gilroy’s jaw broken by prisoner

KILLER David Gilroy has had his jaw broken by a fellow prisoner after bragging that he would be released on appeal, it has been reported.

Gilroy is serving a minimum sentence of 18 years for the murder of Edinburgh book-keeper Suzanne Pilley, 38, his ex-girlfriend. Her remains have never been found.

It is understood Gilroy, 49, had to be taken to hospital from Shotts prison, Lanarkshire, yesterday after the attack.

A source said: “He was boasting to other inmates, telling them he was going to get off on appeal. The other cons were sickened by his attitude. He ended up taking a right beating and being whipped off to hospital.”

A spokesman for the Scottish Prison Service said: “We cannot comment on individual prisoners. However, we can confirm that an incident occurred at Shotts and a prisoner was taken to hospital for a check-up.”
