Kids with poor diet face 'time-bomb'

Millions of children face a ticking health time-bomb later in life because of poor diet and nutrition while they are young, new research has revealed.

Health experts claim that many youngsters face serious illnesses when they grow up because they eat too much saturated fat, salt and sugar and inadequate amounts of essential vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids from oil-rich fish.

The researchers from Manchester Metropolitan University said there was mounting evidence that problems with child nutrition can significantly contribute to chronic and degenerative diseases.
