‘Kidnapped’ chefs serve charity £4k

A GROUP of Scotland’s top chefs raised £4000 for a top children’s charity after being “kidnapped” by writer, actress and comedienne Janey Godley.

The six were held to ransom in Edinburgh’s City Chambers in order to raise money for Action for Children.

Armed with only a mobile phone and a list of contacts, the prisoners relied on the generosity of their nearest and dearest to secure their release.

After raising £4000 in “ransom money”, the captives – including Scottish Restaurant Awards’ chef of the year Neil Forbes – were issued with their release papers by the Lord Provost.

Mary Baillie, senior fundraising executive at Action for Children, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all of the chefs that took part.

“The money raised will help support the country’s most vulnerable children and young people to fulfil their potential and make the most of their lives.”
