Ken ready to raise funds in tandem with Pedal event

NORTH Berwick man Ken Reid is taking to his tandem this Sunday to raise funds for blind and partially sighted people.

Mr Reid, 51, who is registered blind himself, will be pairing up with friend Peter Elderfield to complete the 47 miles between Glasgow Green and Murrayfield stadium in Edinburgh for this year’s national Pedal for Scotland event.

Both are cycling in aid of RNIB Scotland. More than 8000 cyclists are expected to take part and 40 will be supporting the charity. Mr Reid said: “I’m a member of RNIB Scotland and a user of many of their services as I’ve been blind for over 20 years.

“I’ve been very grateful for their support in many ways, and I’m very pleased to be able to do something in return.

“The best way of helping the sighted world understand that people with sight loss are capable of doing many of the things that they enjoy is just to get out there and do it. For me, that includes riding my tandem.”
