'Keep politics out reforms'

DOCTORS in Edinburgh have warned the Scottish Government to keep tribal politics out of health reforms.

The British Medical Association said it acknowledged that changes had to be made and savings found in future years.

But its chairman Dr Brian Keighley said it was crucial MSPs heeded the advice of professionals, rather than use it as a political point-scoring exercise.

He said: "I agree Scotland has to face up to the scale of the challenge. It is important our politicians do not get bogged down by tribal politics."
