Keep active to stop falls

STAYING active in old age can help reduce the chances of falls, health chiefs have said.

NHS Lothian wants to get the message out to the elderly in the area that exercise can provide safety benefits.

Thousands of OAPs are injured by falls every year.

Lisa Stewart, falls co-ordinator for the Edinburgh Community Health Partnership, said: "There are many interventions that can help reduce the risk of falls, and physical activity is one of them."
