Kaplinsky plea over vaccines

Natasha Kaplinsky delivered a petition to Downing Street yesterday demanding vaccines for the world's poorest children.

Campaigners for charities Save The Children and One have collected 351,274 signatures calling for children to receive vaccines for illnesses like pneumonia and diarrhoea.

They handed the petition in at 10 Downing Street so that the Prime Minister could consider it before hosting a global conference on vaccines next Monday.

Kaplinsky said: "I've just come back from India. It's very difficult as a new mother seeing other mothers who love their children as much as I love mine not being able to give their children anything, and yet I can walk 50 yards down the street and get my children vaccinated."
