Joiner drowns in sacred river

A JOINER from Penicuik is reported to have drowned in a sacred river in India.

Robert Mochrie, 30, was swept away by a powerful current as he swam with a friend in the Tungab hadra river. Hundreds of villagers helped search for his body, which was found two days later.

Mr Mochrie's father said: "We're struggling with this and don't want to talk about it at the moment." Mourners packed Penicuik's Sacred Heart Church for his funeral.
