Jobs boost in store as Boots expands outlet

RETAIL giant Boots is to expand one of its Edinburgh stores, creating 40 new jobs.

The pharmacy chain has unveiled plans that will see if nearly triple the size of its outlet at The Gyle Shopping Centre.

The first phase of the expansion has already been unveiled and includes a new opticians, pharmacy and expanded photo processing department. A second phase of the refurbishment will add a new baby offering, as well as Boots' largest Christmas shop in Edinburgh, which will be completed and ready for trading in late September. The third and final phase of the store refurbishment is set to be officially opened in October and will include a new premium beauty hall.

Bal Sagoo, general manager of the Boots store at the Gyle, said: "We are always looking for opportunities to expand our customer offering and the new-look Boots store at The Gyle will provide a much bigger and better store for our customers.

"It is an extremely exciting time for us - the extended store will enable us to offer a fantastic shopping experience."
