Job losses hit Rok subsidiary firms

THE fall-out from the collapse of building group Rok continued yesterday after a further 87 jobs losses were announced.

All the posts to be axed were in Inverness and are the latest in a string of redundancies since the firm went into administration last week.

The company, which had been employing 750 people across Scotland, was forced to cut 69 jobs in East Kilbride on Wednesday, with a further 230 in Inverness, Dundee, Elgin, Thurso and Fort William going the following day.

Yesterday's job losses involved two subsidiaries of the company in Inverness - Tulloch Transport and Rok Civil Engineering.

Alan Brown, joint administrator, said: "As a result of little or no interest in these businesses, we have regrettably had to take the decision to close these businesses and make the entire workforce redundant.

"We understand the impact of this and will be working closely with the employees affected by this decision to ensure they receive the support they need and to assist with their claims for redundancy and other compensatory payments."
