JLS set sights on Ingliston concert

AS one of Britain's biggest boy bands, they have sold more than 1.3 million albums worldwide.

Now, JLS are set to create hysteria when they perform to 20,000 people in the Capital this summer.

The band will be joined by fellow X Factor finalist Olly Murs at the Royal Highland Centre in Ingliston on July 1.

JLS shot to fame on the 2008 series of the X Factor in which they finished runners-up to Alexandra Burke.

Aston, Marvin, Orits and JB will entertain fans with their six top ten singles and a selection of hits from their two multi-platinum selling albums as part of the Scottish leg of their tour.

Olly, who finished second in the 2009 X Factor final, will perform for around an hour before JLS take to the stage.

Organisers expect the event to be the "biggest outdoor concert" in Scotland this summer.

Director of the Royal Highland Centre, Archie Glendinning, said: "We're delighted to have signed JLS for the Scottish leg of its tour. I'm sure there will be no shortage of fans coming to the centre."

The outdoor concert will take place in the main ring at the Royal Highland Centre.

Secretary of Corstorphine Community Council, Ken Swinney, said: "This will bring a lot of people to the area, which will be a good thing."

The gates will open at 5pm but the start time for the concert is still to be confirmed.

Councillor Steve Cardownie, festivals and events champion for the city council, said: "To secure JLS is a major coup. This has all the makings of a sell-out summer concert, no doubt there'll be a flurry of interest from right across Scotland.

"Edinburgh is proud to offer a year-long calendar of events and festivals which cater to all tastes - from mainstream pop and rock to the leading lights of the world's major arts companies, such as the Bolshoi Symphony Orchestra, who are playing the Usher Hall in May."

Mr Glendinning added: "Our summer programme has something for everyone at the Royal Highland Centre, including JLS, the Scottish Car Show, the Royal Highland Show and Gardening Scotland."

Tickets, which cost 32.50, are available from Ticketmaster, Ripping Records in the Capital and Ticket Scotland shops in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
