There were claims, fuelled by Rowling herself, that the answer to the anagram was to do with a spin-off film involving the fictional Newt Scamander, author of one of Harry’s textbooks. Speculation started after Rowling posted the puzzle for fans to solve on Monday before teasing them with the message “something to ponder while I’m away X”.

“Cry, foe! Run amok! Fa awry! My wand won’t tolerate this nonsense,” said her tweet. Speculation soon started as many fans noticed that the letters were an anagram of the phrase: “Harry Returns! Won’t say any details now! A week off! No comment.”
