Jim Devine sued by ex-worker

FORMER Livingston Labour MP Jim Devine is being sued for defamation by an ex-employee.

Mr Devine, who is facing trial for fiddling his expenses, has been issued with a summons by lawyers of Marion Kinley.

The one-time office manager, 46, who was employed by Mr Devine between June 2006 and May 2009, has accused him of attacking her character.

The pair had already clashed over mileage costs incurred by Ms Kinley, which she claims were not repaid by Mr Devine.

She later took him to an employment tribunal over alleged constructive dismissal and breach of contract, a case that has been indefinitely postponed after Mr Devine cited ill-health.
